Kissed on Alien Christmas (Adrift in Space Book 1) by Harpie Alexander 3.0 Stars (1 Review)    Price verified 7 hours ago

This book has been revised based on initial reviews. Rena: He caught me in his arms, but then he let go. I was too afraid to get his name, too afraid to admit the effect he had on me. That was three months ago. Three torturous months going back to the bar Shakaat's and hoping that mysterious hooded alien would be there, but he never shows. Not this time. I refuse to let him evade me any longer. When I see him tonight, he's mine, and I'm never letting go. Aarvik: That beautiful female steals all my attention, distracting me from my only mission. I've been avoiding her, and not because she doesn't appeal to me. It's because she too appealing. Tonight, I'm supposed to carry out my mission, my destiny. The problem is, she's here too, and I don't know if I have it in me to avoid her this time. Kissed on Alien Christmas is a very short, slice of life novella, with a holiday like Christmas element. It is not a full-on Christmas story. This book is for readers 18+ years in age. Contains explicit love scene, swearing, and some dark & gritty tones.

MARK by Adam Darby 4.5 Stars (2 Reviews)    Price verified 9 hours ago

Lost in more ways than one, Mark wanders through wilderness and time trying to save himself and the people he loves. He travels far from home to a jungle not yet crisscrossed by roads or power lines -- not yet penetrated by cellphone signal or radio broadcasts. Mark leaves the relative comfort of middle-class America to explore a wilderness where grocery stores do not exist -- where air-conditioning and the internet have never been found. He goes there searching for a place to clear his head -- not at all prepared for what he finds. Barefoot hunters capture Mark after he loses his way in the jungle -- in the wet, endless maze of green and black. They take his shoes, his supplies and his freedom -- dragging him back to their village where they hold him in bondage for years. The tribe forces Mark to carry firewood and battle their enemies -- to fashion weapons for the men and toys for the children -- to participate in strange rituals with the women during nights when the moon is full. Mark learns the hard way as he struggles to overcome obstacles -- as he strives to obtain his American dream. He finds out how quickly his tender feet can toughen and how easy it is to obey men with spears. He discovers how much he needs to tell his story to anyone who will listen -- how difficult it is to remember the truth and how little some people care about facts. But most of all, he comes to realize how hard it can be to escape even places where there are no walls.

Red Empire by Martin M McShane 3.0 Stars (1 Review)    Price verified 5 hours ago

Vladimir Lenin had an ambition. And it was that every country in the world would be run as a communist state. He wrote a treatise about it called 'Communism In Many Countries'. But he died before he could realise his ambition. At the end of WW II Stalin, Churchill and President Truman attended a so-called peace conference in Potsdam. Stalin had the leaders of the free world in the palm of his hand while millions of his Red Army Soldiers were less than a days' march away. It was the opportunity he'd been waiting for. In 2017 the supersized Soviet Union is planning to celebrate the centenary of the 'Glorious Revolution'. But there is much unrest amongst its one and a half billion inhabitants. Food and the other essentials of life are in short supply. Riots and uprisings are ruthlessly put down by the Communist State. The Central Committee demand a permanent solution be found to the chaos. They plan to restore order by bringing Terror to all the peoples of the Soviet Union. Word of this gets out. Revolution is in the air. The leaders of the revolution are rounded up and taken to the Lubyanka for 'processing'. A group of freedom fighters risk everything to save the revolution. Victory is in the balance as personal ambitions, lust for power and greed take hold over ideals and serving the greater good. .

NAZI UNIVERSE by Mark Kale 3.5 Stars (24 Reviews)    Price verified 9 hours ago

In 1942 Adolf Hitler had personally intervened and chosen Professor Wilhelm Meyer to continue where the SS had failed catastrophically. Meyer's instructions were simple. He and his colleague Dr Karl Roth were to take control of the project and to drive the research into the manipulating and controlling of the visible spectrum as hard and fast as possible with the sole intention of creating a device that could render objects invisible. 1943 and the war was already lost for the Nazi's. The RAF and the US Army Air Corps were systematically destroying Germany's manufacturing capacity and its cities by day and by night, and an increasingly deranged Hitler was demanding bigger and more destructive weapons. After only a modicum of success Meyer and Roth were called upon to examine and investigate what Roth thought would turn out to be an advanced enemy aircraft that had crashed in a mountain forest, after close examination it could turn out to be the war winning weapon that Hitler was demanding. After being forcibly removed from their primary project to work on this more immediate project by the SS under Himmler's orders, Meyer and Roth are set to work alongside other scientific luminaries under the control of a fanatical SS Colonel. Roth discovers that this SS colonel is researching into developing far more repulsive weapons, by the use of extremely barbaric and inhuman methods. After a breakthrough of monumental proportions Roth is chosen to become a reluctant participant in what is required to secure the war winning weapons that Hitler demands. Now years into the future where National Socialism had triumphed, the world had gone beyond the model state of Nazi ideology dreamed up by Hitler and his supporters, it has become a world of fear and uncertainty, and where a long and happy life was not guaranteed even for the loyal Nazi's. The one breakthrough that Meyer and Roth had achieved while working on the invisibility project would turn out to be, with guidance from ...

Psychic Warrior: Warfare on the Virtual Plane by Bob Mayer (Cool Gus) 4.3 Stars (29 Reviews)    Price verified 5 hours ago

Based on an actual military program. Men Who Stare At Goats was based on a real program, Trojan Warrior, which the author was part of. This book takes that to the next level. The Russians sink the submarine USS Thresher in 1963 using their classified psychic project, but something goes awry and all are killed. Except one scientist who plans to take the project to a higher level. Decades later, the Russians unleash Chyort, also known as the 'Devil'. Chyort is a cyborg that can project into the virtual world with almost limitless power and reassemble his avatar anywhere in real world to wreak havoc. When the Russian mafia steals 20 nuclear warheads to auction them to the highest bidder, Chyort implements his own plan of revenge. Sergeant Major Jimmy Dalton and a small team of US Green Berets who were originally trained in the classified Trojan Warrior program are thrust into the Psychic Warrior program. The team must battle a Russian avatar on the virtual plane and then take their own avatars into the real world. Their mission seems simple. Stop Chyort. If they fail? World War III. Psychic Warrior takes warfare into the virtual plane through avatars and then reinserts the covert operatives into the real world. The results can be devastating. Mayer uses his real Military experience in the then-classified Special Forces Trojan Warrior program and writes a novel about the new frontier of warfare: the mind. This is the future of Special Operations Warfare. Library Journal: "A heart-pounding thriller about the emergence of a deadly avatar. The panorama of modern warfare and the details of hand-to-hand combat encounters add excitement. Inventive, entertaining, and realistic adventure. Highly recommended."

He must join a group of colorful and strange characters that he wants nothing to do with and find a way to bring them all together as a team to stop the spread of an uncontrollable galactic threat. Enemies are made, friendships are developed, and the galaxy is saved through sarcastic comments, dirty slippers, and a healthy dose of pop culture references. Space.Man easily transitions from scientific and technical prose to memorable, laugh out loud comedic action with a few shenanigans thrown in for good measure. Space.Man contains action and humor that will interest the casual science fiction fan or mainstream audience, but also tastefully slips in references and Easter Eggs that will keep the hardcore geek entertained.

"It was a thing from a nightmare, blurred, huge, rising from the centre of the crater, dust rising from flailing appendages, the starlight gleaming from something which looked like polished marble... " A strange object has crashed landed on the Moon... In an underground hall, gouged out of the lunar rock, the scientists at Moonbase One have created a miniature section of Earth. A home away from home for the scientists and workers living on the Lunar planet. Commander Mark Regan watches carefully over his people, maintaining a good rhythm within their new ecosystem. However, when a strange object from outer space shows up on their scans, it threatens to destroy the whole base and their hard won way of life. The object is heading towards the moon on a collision course. Commander Regan is pushed into action. Should he take offensive action? Persuaded by the scientists not to destroy it, he fires a missle to nudge it off course, causing it to land several miles from the base. But the question remains: what is it? The potential ship-craft lies in a nearby crater. Its harder-than-diamond coating, strange structural composition and surrounding gossamer-like substance promise wonder - but to Commander Regan, he can't shake the feeling of unease. Runaway R.U.N.T.: The Dystopian Wars (Book 1) by Jessica Cameron 5.0 Stars (5 Reviews)    Price verified 5 hours ago

Post-Apocalyptic Earth has already seen a deluge, an ice age, a cleansing by fire, and the extinction of all species, except Man. In this dystopian nightmare, homo sapiens have survived by hanging on to what little remains of their mortal flesh. Incessant experiments have left them with virtually no cognition of their status as social beings. They now fight. Tribe against tribe. Colour against colour. And deity-like power against deity-like power. With numbers withering due to near-constant wars, they now send in their teens to fight for them, with disastrous results. The Wind-walkers have found permanent residence in orbit around the earth, and constantly keep launching human-guinea pig filled shuttles to other planets, in the hopes of escaping the wasteland below. The race of Fire-Breathers is at the top of the food chain. They are locked in a century old power struggle with the Water-Conjurers. With Fire-breathing weapons, they clash against Acid-Belching ones. The stalemate has nipped many a potential Romeo-Juliet story in the bud. All but one. In a dingy little trench amidst scorched earth, blooms a teenage romance that hold the promise to change the tribal balance-of-power equations once and for all. For when their powers are unified behind one objective, these young adults turn what was once thought to be the stuff of fiction, into a game-changer. The rebellion of teens, against the world. Somewhere in between all these distinct human sub-species, lies the criminal underbelly of humanity. Fallout from Nuclear winters have made them neither human nor animal. Neither completely man nor machine. Neither totally dead, nor totally alive. They live in a twilight zone, where the rays of a dying sun never reach them. In an alternate reality like world, they thrive. The order of the day in all these societies is meritocracy. And not just on the basis of brain and physique. Young men and women, if not found to have been born with some powers of the elements, or ...

Emergence by Ray Hammond (Endeavour Venture) 4.3 Stars (59 Reviews)    Price verified 5 hours ago

We are trying to mimic the way human consciousness may have emerged over the four billion years of biological evolution on this planet. In another quarter of a century we think the global networks will have grown sufficiently to allow real emergence to take place... Thomas Tye's phenomenal financial success is due to a secret known only to a very few at the top of his corporation. But the monopolistic and increasingly bizarre activities of the mighty Tye Corporation have caught the attention of the UNISA - the United Nations' international security agency - and of famous biographer Haley Voss who wants to write an exposé of the suprisingly youthful-looking tycoon. Commercial spying has reached new dimensions and the World Bank is concerned that, unrestrained, the Tye Corporation activities could destabilize the world's financial markets. Then Thomas Tye announces that using a wholly new, benign and sustainable satellite technology he can change the world's weather for the benefit of all. As a demonstration, he promises to bring rain to end decades of drought in Ethiopia and he asks the people of the world to join him in delivering the world's biggest act of philanthropy. But the output from the satellite technology is exciting the world's super-dense information networks in ways nobody could have foreseen and, as the UN closes in on a corporation with more power than any single nation, a new entity begins to emerge which changes everybody's plans... Josiah Trenchard and the Might of Fortitude: Space Navy Series Book 1 by Jonathon Fletcher 4.4 Stars (49 Reviews)    Price verified 5 hours ago

The "Space Navy" series is a blend of space opera with a heavy dose of military science fiction and horror. A sci-fi thriller series which has been described as "Star Trek meets Full Metal Jacket". Josiah Trenchard is a no-nonsense, foul mouthed, alcohol-fuelled action hero. He's one of the roughest, toughest troopers in the fleet; a soldier of distinct morals and a renowned lack of tact, who is less "space marine" and more Sean Bean's "Richard Sharpe". Trenchard's been fighting hard in the bloody war that's been raging between the United Worlds and the insurgents, ever since the uprising on Mars, soon after colonization. The insurgents wage a guerrilla war of I.E.D. ambush, assassination and terror attacks. The navy troops live, fight and die by their motto: "Honour, strength and unity!" Trenchard was almost killed during that first great battle; scarred both physically and emotionally. He lost friends and comrades and was given a scar by an unknown assailant, a woman he's searched for ever since. Now, he's fighting the increasingly desperate insurgents once more when he's unexpectedly re-assigned to an untested, prototype vessel and thrown into a series of deadly adventures that will test his mettle to breaking point. The Wolverine class vessel, the "Might of Fortitude", has been designed to be the deadliest hunter-killer star-ship in the fleet. The cramped, submarine-like spacecraft is about to be launched on her maiden voyage. While hunting bloodthirsty pirates who have unleashed a reign of terror throughout the asteroid belt, Trenchard struggles to cope with a woefully inexperienced crew of misfits and reprobates and puts his life on the line to save his ship, his crew, and the honour of the Space Navy. Can Trenchard save the day? Will he ever get a quiet glass of rum and a smoke? Snap on your armour, grab your trusty "Vicar" rifle and board the Might of Fortitude to find out. Strange Temple by John Lilley 5.0 Stars (2 Reviews)    Price verified 5 hours ago

By 2017 the sixth mass extinction was already well underway. The previous 40 years had seen 50% of all land-based vertebrate species disappear for good. There had been warnings of an imminent human population increase of another 3 billion. Yet, we were only just starting to see that as a problem, mainly because it would have been bad for business. The reality was that we were already screwed. Strange Temple visits the Earth in the mid-23rd Century, long after the big die-back of 2095, where the climate is moving towards a much hotter, but stable extreme. The few groups of remaining humans are governed by AI's, some of which are more stable than others. Will they succeed in reversing the run-away warming cycle, and if they do, what kind of human will go forward into the new world? The book is a continuation of the author's short story: 'Something to tell Jessie', which was one of the competition winning entries published in the book: 'Apocalypse Chronicles' in 2016 by Almond Press.

The Private Sector (World-Mart Book 0) by Leigh M. Lane (Cerebral Books) 4.3 Stars (9 Reviews)    Price verified 41 minutes ago

"In the tradition of 1984, Leigh M. Lane delivers a terrifying vision of the future--a horrific future that may not be so distant after all... "--Lisa Mannetti, Stoker Award-winning author of The Gentling Box and Deathwatch The world of corporate greed runs rampant after the government's dissolution has left police, fire, and all other services in the hands of privatized businesses and wealthy investors. John and Dianne Irwin have done everything humanly possible to shield their son from the world's corruption, but the odds are stacking against them. Dianne's junkie sister is a drain on everyone around her, and her cluelessly entitled parents seem only capable of making matters worse. When the arts are deemed a frivolous waste of waning resources, Dianne's livelihood as a painter becomes obsolete -- and the tighter money gets, the closer the Irwins find themselves a mere tragedy away from ruin. With the class divide ever widening, debtor prisons for the lower and middle classes overflowing, disease ravaging the country, and resources running dry, the Irwin family must survive the battleground generated between those who would crush the lower classes for their own gain and those who've waged a war against them, against a corrupt system ruled by The Private Sector. "The Private Sector is proof positive that horror literature is alive, well and has something to say. Leigh M. Lane has created a cautionary and gripping dystopian tale that exposes the reader to the horrific results of corporate greed run amok. It is a nightmarish vision of the future that is as compelling as it is unsettling. If you enjoy horror fiction with intelligence and profound insights into human nature, then this is a book for you." --Taylor Grant, Bram Stoker Award nominated author of The Dark at the End of the Tunnel
